Position Overview:
The Patient Access Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a seamless, patient-centered experience from the first point of contact through the completion of a patient’s visit. This role involves coordinating patient intake, verifying insurance information, managing appointments, and facilitating communication between patients, providers, and administrative teams. The Patient Access Coordinator serves as a key touchpoint, helping patients navigate the healthcare system efficiently while ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and regulations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Schedule, reschedule as needed, and cancel appointments with patients in NextGen
- Provide Pre-Op instructions to the patient upon scheduling the patient
- Verify patient Insurance, obtain authorizations, and input insurance information into NextGen
- Schedule transportation as needed per the center’s practices & notify the client if issues with transportation
- Contact clients to confirm patient appointments, reschedule appointments, and any canceled appointments and document them in NextGen
- Conduct follow-up phone calls to patients for post-procedures to assess surgical site infections; notify the client if there is a possible surgical site infection
- Contact clients
- Medical Record Audits as requested by the client
- General Data Entry & Data Collection as requested by the client
- Efax physician’s note to dialysis units and refer physician’s offices
- Handle inbound and outbound calls
Job Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or BSN
- Proficient in the English language, both verbal and written
- Understanding of medical terminology
- 1+ year in medical office; management of scheduling patients
- Able to perform patient follow-up calls to assess procedure surgical site infections
- Preferred: 1 year of experience in a healthcare or medical billing office required
- Experience verifying insurance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payors (preferred)
- Experience in obtaining pre-authorizations and/or referrals from insurance carriers (preferred)
- Serve as liaison between patients and clients to ensure vascular access procedures are scheduled timely
- Ability to Efax physician’s notes to dialysis units and refer physician’s offices Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Worked in a healthcare setting and or medical billing office
- Managing patient appointments for procedures: Scheduling, Rescheduling, and Cancelations
- Identifying signs and symptoms of infections for post-procedure surgical site infections
- Strong communication skills as a liaison from patient to client
