Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented EHR System Administrator to oversee, manage, and optimize our AthenaOne Health SaaS-based Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The administrator will serve as the primary point of contact for system configuration, user management, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination, ensuring that the platform operates efficiently, securely, and in compliance with healthcare regulations. This role is critical to supporting clinical, operational, and administrative teams in leveraging AthenaOne to deliver quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the AthenaOne EHR system.
  • Configure system settings, templates, workflows, and user permissions to meet organizational needs.
  • Maintain system documentation, including configurations, policies, and procedures.
  • Create, modify, and deactivate user accounts and roles.
  • Provide tier-2/3 support for end-users, resolving complex technical or workflow issues.
  • Develop and deliver user training, guides, and best practices to improve adoption and efficiency
  • Monitor system performance, availability, and security.
  • Coordinate and test software updates, patches, and new feature releases from AthenaHealth.
  • Work closely with AthenaHealth support to escalate and resolve issues.
  • Ensure system compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, and other healthcare IT regulations.
  • Manage audit logs, system access controls, and security monitoring.
  • Conduct periodic risk assessments and contribute to security improvement initiatives.
  • Support data extraction, reporting, and analytics needs for clinical and administrative teams.
  • Develop custom reports and dashboards within AthenaOne or related tools.
  • Ensure data integrity, accuracy, and availability for regulatory reporting and decision-making.
  • Act as the primary liaison with AthenaHealth support and technical teams.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to align system functionality with organizational goals.
  • Participate in EHR optimization projects and strategic planning.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience administering EHR systems, preferably AthenaOne.
  • Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, clinical documentation, billing, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with EHR configuration, security, and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and healthcare IT compliance standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to train and support end-users with varying levels of technical expertise.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting (SQL, Excel, BI tools a plus)
  •  Previous hands-on experience with AthenaOne system administration          
  • Certification in healthcare IT (e.g., CPHIMS, CAHIMS, or equivalent)
  • Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, or other healthcare interoperability standards
  • Experience working in clinical environments or supporting providers directly
  • Full-time position with occasional on-call support for critical issues.
